Rebecca is an experienced sustainable tourism consultant, passionate about empowering and engaging local communities in the process of using tourism responsibly to generate social and economic development benefits. Her MSc in Responsible Tourism Management (Distinction), for which her research focused on the conditions for success of community-based tourism, adds to her hands-on experience of working with large mainstream travel companies as well as consultancy assignments from local to international level on sustainable tourism development.
Rebecca has strong experience and understanding of both mainstream tourism industry and markets and local level tourism; a flair for qualitative and quantitative research, strategic analysis and problem-solving; experience in appraising the impacts of tourism and trained in social impact assessment techniques; strong inter-personal skills in stakeholder engagement, communication, reporting and advocacy and an understanding of regulatory and policy frameworks.
Rebecca is Welsh, and grew up in Ceredigion. Thriving rural tourism and the vibrancy and uniqueness of the Welsh language, landscape and heritage are issues very close to her heart. She speaks conversational Welsh.
